Work.com: Helping companies focus on the new reality

Work.com - Helping Companies Focus on the New Reality

January 1, 2020 - the start of a brand new year. We celebrated the birth of a new family member (great-granddaughter Lilly Grace), began planning for our family beach vacation, watched college football bowl games; we were going about our normal lives.

Fast forward a few months, and “normal” has a new meaning and continues to evolve. Social distancing, shelter at home, pandemic, Covid-19, Zoom meetings, face masks, working from home (although that is not new for me!), and even a toilet paper shortage have become our new reality.

Ensuring Employee Safety with Work.com

As many businesses and communities prepare to reopen, Salesforce has announced the release of Work.com — products to enable organizations to manage the logistics of returning to work while putting employee health and safety first.

Wait, didn’t Salesforce already have a product called Work.com? Yes!

"Work.com is a completely new initiative using an existing domain name that we previously owned," said Salesforce spokesperson Joel Steinfeld. According to Salesforce, “Work.com is a collection of expert advice, partners solutions, and products to help any company or community around the world reopen and recover. It’s most helpful for business leaders, C-suite executives, and government leaders looking for a comprehensive view of all the data that they need, plus tools to help them plan staffing and shift management, to reopen their offices and communities safely. The offering includes both existing and new solutions, built on the world’s #1 CRM Platform: Customer 360.”

What features are included in Work.com?

Work.com, based on an employee-centric object model, consists of standard and custom objects. As with all things Salesforce, the product continues to evolve.

Currently, there are six key components of Work.com:

  1. Command Center

  2. Employee Wellness Check

  3. Shift Management and Planning

  4. Contact Tracing

  5. Emergency Response Management

  6. Volunteer and Grants Management

Work.com Command Center
Work.com Command Center

Command Center

A single hub for leaders to get a 360-degree view of return-to-work readiness across locations, employees and visitors, allowing them to make data-driven decisions and take action.

The command center allows organizations to bring together trusted data from internal applications and employee wellness surveys, create and disseminate important employee communications at scale, and surface public data through the Tableau COVID-19 data hub.

Users can also add on MuleSoft to integrate additional data sources and Tableau for more custom data visualizations.

Office density, large crowds at elevators, other public spaces, and using components of Field Service Lightning (FSL) orchestrates the planning for the return of employees through shift management.

Work.com - Contact Tracing
Contact Tracing

Contact Tracing

Manually track health-related interactions to safely and securely minimize the spread of COVID-19. Collect data from individuals who are infected or potentially exposed to an infectious disease used to create visual maps of contacts and locations to monitor potential interactions and outbreak.

Work.com - Emergency Response Management
Emergency Response Management

Emergency Response Management

A suite of tools designed for the health, public, and private sectors enabling them to allocate resources efficiently and quickly.

  • Public Sector: Accelerate responsiveness, connect with emergency field workers, rapid service deployment.

  • Public Health: Patient access to care with self-service, manual contact tracing.

  • Private Sector: Transition employees back to work. Execute employee support programs, evaluate employee health, conduct regular check ins.

Volunteer and Grants Management

This feature will help organizations fulfill their relief goals with flexible, scalable tools that streamline volunteer coordination and grant-making processes. Align the right volunteer with the right activity at the right time. Streamline the grant application processes from application to final approval.

When will Work.com become Generally Available?

Work.com will be Generally Available (GA), June 1, 2020 (safe harbor statement). That means it will be available to users with Platform/CRM Licenses and is a separately licensed product with pricing based on cost per user.
